Exo-Hike Basics
What is Exo-Hike Colorado?
Exo-Hike Colorado offers guided, exoskeleton-assisted hiking experiences at iconic Colorado locations. We blend lightweight exoskeleton support with small-group guided hikes, so more people can enjoy Colorado’s trails with added comfort and confidence.
What is an exoskeleton and how does it help?
Our lower-body exoskeletons are lightweight support systems worn over your clothing. They sense your movement and help share the workload on inclines, steps, and uneven terrain—reducing fatigue while you still walk at your own pace. You are always in control; the exoskeleton assists, it does not “drive” you.
Is this a medical or mobility service?
No. Exo-Hike is a recreational, guided hiking experience. Our exoskeletons are used as a confidence-boosting support system for outdoor adventures, not as medical or rehabilitation devices.
Who It’s For
Who can participate in an Exo-Hike?
Exo-Hike is designed for guests who:
- Can stand and walk independently on their own
- Are comfortable with a short, slow-paced hike on natural surfaces (dirt, rock, and uneven terrain)
- Want extra support, comfort, or confidence while hiking—especially with altitude, joints, or stamina
If you’re unsure whether it’s right for you, reach out and we can talk through your needs. [email protected]
Do I need to be very fit or experienced at hiking?
No. Our excursions are moderate difficulty and focused on being supported, unhurried, and present in the landscape—not chasing miles. You should be able to walk at a relaxed pace for about 2–3 miles with breaks.
Is Exo-Hike wheelchair or stroller accessible?
Not at this time. Our routes use natural park trails with dirt, rock, and uneven surfaces, and are not suitable for wheelchairs, strollers, mobility scooters, or similar devices.
Are there age or size limits?
Yes. For safety and fit:
- Guests must meet our current height and weight guidelines for the exoskeleton (listed on each excursion page and in our Gear Use & Exoskeleton Agreement).
- We currently host adults and older teens; please see the minimum age listed on each experience.
If you have questions about fit, contact us before booking so we can confirm.
Planning & Booking
How do I book an Exo-Hike?
Choose your location and date on our Excursions page, select the number of participants, and complete your booking online through our secure system. You’ll receive a confirmation email with all the details.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking as early as possible—especially for weekends and peak seasons. Online bookings typically close 2 days before the hike so we can confirm guides, exoskeletons, and shuttles.
Can I book a private or custom group?
Yes. For private groups, special occasions, or custom timing, contact us directly and we’ll work with you to design an Exo-Hike that fits your group and location preferences.
What’s included in the price?
Details vary slightly by experience, but typically include:
- Guided, exoskeleton-assisted hike at the listed location
- Individual gear fitting and safety orientation
- Use of a lightweight exoskeleton for the duration of the hike
- Small-group experience with time for photos, questions, and breaks
Any additional inclusions (such as shuttle transport) will be clearly listed on each excursion page.
Is transportation included?
Some excursions may include or offer shuttle transportation from a designated meeting point in Colorado Springs. Check the “Meeting & Pick-Up” section on the specific excursion page for exact details.
On the Day of Your Exo-Hike
Where do we meet?
Your confirmation email will include the exact meeting point and time. For some excursions, we meet at a central Colorado Springs location and shuttle to the trailhead; for others, you may drive directly to the park meeting point.
How long does the experience last?
Most Exo-Hikes are around 4 hours total, including meet-up, gear fitting and orientation, the hike itself, breaks, and return time.
What should I wear and bring?
We recommend:
- Closed-toe hiking or athletic footwear (no sandals or heels)
- Comfortable pants or leggings that cover the knees for exoskeleton fit
- Light layers (jacket or fleece—Colorado weather can change quickly)
- Refillable water bottle
- Sun protection (sunscreen, hat, sunglasses)
- Any personal medications you might need for light physical activity
Full “What to bring” details are listed on each excursion page.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Colorado weather is dynamic. We run tours in sun, wind, and light rain, but we may reschedule or cancel if there is lightning, heavy snow, extreme cold/heat, or unsafe trail conditions. If Exo-Hike cancels for safety reasons, we’ll work with you to reschedule or provide options according to our policies.
Policies & Safety
What is your cancellation and refund policy?
Because our excursions are small-group and equipment-dependent, bookings are generally non-refundable and all sales are final once confirmed. Please review the full Booking Policy on our Policies page before reserving.
What if Exo-Hike needs to cancel?
If we must cancel due to severe weather, safety concerns, or unforeseen operational issues, we’ll contact you as soon as possible and offer to reschedule your hike or provide options in line with our Booking Policy.
Do I need to sign a waiver or agreement?
Yes. All participants must review and agree to our Gear Use & Exoskeleton Agreement and Participant Waiver & Assumption of Risk before their hike. These documents explain how the equipment is used, what’s expected of guests, and key safety information.
Are tips included?
Gratuities for your guide are not included in the ticket price. Tips are never required but always appreciated if you enjoyed your experience.
Can I bring my own hiking poles, backpack, or camera?
Yes, as long as your gear doesn’t interfere with the exoskeleton fit or safety. Lightweight backpacks and personal cameras/phones are welcome—your guide can help you decide what’s comfortable to carry.
